In December 2024 I had shingles in my upper right leg for the first time. After receiving some medication, it subsided in January. However, this was followed by some irregular heart beat which resulted in almost falling off a chair when fainting .
So I visited a cardiologist who had extensive blood labs done including PSA. PSA turned out to be at 6.5 and it was suggested to follow this up with my urologist (who measured a PSA value last time in July 2023 at 3.06. (The heart issues went away after changing my high blood pressuer medication).

PSA Test

28.05.2025 4.51 13.05.25
MRI done. Traces of a former prostatitis weere found which could explain the elevated PSA value from February 2025. Due to two somewhat suspicious areas it was suggested to have a repeat MRI in 6 to 12 months.

08.12.2025 7.61 08.12.25
PSA test. Didn't want to believe the result. So I had a repeat test done soon after.

18.12.2025 7.40 18.12.25
Repeat PSA test with similar result. So, I was planning another MRI.

12.01.2026 7.40 18.12.25
MRI done. Two leasions were detected which were considered to be likely to be cancerous. So, a biopsy was the next step.

15.01.2026 6.38 15.01.26
PSA test again

27.01.2026 6.38 15.01.26
Biopsy done at ALTA-Klinik in Bielefeld.
Result: Gleason score of 7a with 6 out of 12 probes including 4 targeted probes being tumorous. Up to 15% Gleason 4 within a single probe. Up to 21 mm tumorous tissue in probe.
It was strongly suggested to have a radical prostatectomy.
After extensive reading about it I didn't want to have the procedure at this stage. I decided to change my life-style hoping to manage to disease without further treatment.
I changed my diet from a western processed food diet to a mediteranean diet with lots of legumes, such as broccoli, onions, garlic, olive oil, etc tomatoes (often in form of a tomatoe soup dinner), fish, such as tuna, makarel, hering etc. No sweets - just from fresh fruits and a daily 0.25 l pomegranate juice.
I also started to exercise for 30 minutes 2-3 times a week on a rowing machine. Furthermore I took various supplements, such as Vitamin D, pumpkin seeds, curcumin, and a few others.

18.02.2026 6.33 18.02.26
PSA test.

19.02.2026 6.33 18.02.26
Discussion with urologist who thought it was save to do an active surveillance for 12 months, as I was a borderline case to intermediate risk. I decided to do that and monitor my PSA closely.

10.04.2026 7.33 10.04.26
I had a becterial urinary tract infection (possibly stemming from the prostate biopsy in late January 2026. This resulted in a high PSA value as I expected. I was treated with antibiotics.

11.05.2026 6.03 11.05.26
PSA test after urinary tract infection subsided.

By the way I had lost about 12 kg of weight since February 2026 and reached a normal weight (about 72kg with a height of 170cm).
I also decided to increase my regular exercise to about 5 times a week 30 minutes of rowing or swimming.

03.08.2026 4.39 03.08.26
